What E3 Means
E3 is an overheating/thermal-cutout fault — the cooktop's protection circuit has detected a temperature high enough to trigger a safety shutdown.
Common Causes of E3
- Cookware or another object trapping heat against the glass surface
- Cooling fan (if the model has one) has failed
- Control board thermal sensor has failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the cooktop cool completely and check that nothing (a towel, a large pot base) is trapping heat against the glass surface before trying it again.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the cutout keeps triggering after a full cool-down with nothing blocking heat dissipation, the cooling fan or thermal sensor itself needs technician diagnosis.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
