What E4 Means
E4 is a motor overload/thermal protection fault, related to E1 but specifically flagging that the motor's thermal protection tripped rather than an overcurrent event.
Common Causes of E4
- Grease-clogged filters or blocked ductwork causing sustained motor strain
- Motor bearings wearing, increasing running friction and heat
- Motor has genuinely failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the unit cool and check filters/ductwork the same way as for E1, since sustained restricted airflow is a common cause of the motor running hot enough to trip thermal protection.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If clean filters and clear ductwork don't stop E4 from recurring, the motor itself needs technician diagnosis.
