What F5 Means
F5 is a door latch fault — the control board can't confirm the self-clean door lock is engaging or releasing correctly.
Common Causes of F5
- Latch motor or solenoid has failed
- Latch position sensor has failed
- Mechanical latch is physically obstructed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Don't force the door if it's stuck locked — power the oven down at the breaker for a few minutes and let it fully cool, since the lock is tied to cavity temperature and often releases once cooled.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Forcing a stuck self-clean lock risks damaging the latch mechanism or, worse, opening a door that's still at self-clean temperature.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
