What E5 Means
E5 shows at startup when one or more burners can't be ignited and normal cooking can't begin — a broader startup problem distinct from E1's single-burner ignition failure.
Common Causes of E5
- Startup self-test detected an ignition-related problem across multiple burners
- Control board startup sequence has failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power-cycle the unit at the breaker, since a startup-sequence problem sometimes clears on a full reset.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If a power-cycle doesn't clear E5, the underlying ignition-system problem needs the same diagnosis as an E1 code, across multiple burners.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Code meanings can change between control generations. Before acting on a code, match the full model number on your appliance's rating label against the manual for that model. We are an independent repair service, not affiliated with Haier US Appliance Solutions, Inc.
