What F8 Means
F8 is a door lock mechanism failure during or after a self-clean cycle — related to F5, but specifically flags the locking mechanism itself rather than the control signal.
Common Causes of F8
- Latch mechanism has physically failed or jammed
- Latch motor has failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Same as F5 — don't force the door, let the unit fully cool and try a breaker reset first.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Forcing a jammed latch mechanism can break it entirely, turning a repair into a full latch-assembly replacement.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
